Family Support

CUMBRIA FAMILY SUPPORT - have been supporting children and families in Cumbria since 1993. The organisation provides support services for children and families experiencing stress or difficulty. They offer practical, emotional and accessible support to reduce isolation and health inequalities and help to empower children and their parents, helping them to be the best they can be. They focus on early intervention and work with each family as a whole, enabling all family members to recognise their strengths within the family unit and contribute to their community in a positive way.

NSPCC - have a new Family Line website providing support for parents and carers via telephone, text message and email.

FREEDOM PROJECT (WEST CUMBRIA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUP) - The Freedom project provides a free holistic family approach, working with victims/survivors, perpetrators and their children where domestic abuse is an issue in their lives. We work with the whole family with the ultimate aim of breaking the cycle of abuse in all its forms. 

FAMILY ACTION - Family Action support families and individuals experiencing difficult or challenging times. This includes families who are seeking single agency support or support as part of an Early help assessment.

Our Family Support offer includes providing advice and guidance around implementing boundaries and routines. Helping parents to have a better understanding of their child’s behaviour. Home Based Play activities and support to meet their child’s learning and development needs, as well as bonding and attachment. Promoting reciprocal relationships, whilst understanding and managing emotions.  Sharing and discussing positive parenting strategies. At all times focusing on the families strengths, abilities and aspirations for the future.
