Bruising in Babies and Children who are Not Independently Mobile

The session will explore the research evidence and local cases which indicate the importance around recognition of the safeguarding implications for bruises on this vulnerable group. Delivered by the Designated Dr for safeguarding children, Prof Jean Herbison, Consultant Paediatrician and Nicola Cleghorn, Designated Dr Safeguarding Chlidren, Cumbria CCG.

Target Audience

Members of staff, who work predominantly with children, young people and their families, and who could potentially contribute to the assessment, intervention and reviewing the safeguarding needs for a child or young person, where there are safeguarding concerns, and or potential risks.  This session would be particularly useful for medical practitioners either in General Practice or in EDs and NHS trusts e.g. Hospital and Community Paediatricians.  The training is set at level 3 Safeguarding training.  It may also be particularly useful for midwives and HVs caring for very young infants.
