Cumbria's Children Centred Policing Team - Cumbria Constabulary has adopted a Child Centred approach to Policing. The core purpose of this is to recognise children as “children first” in every interaction and to improve the quality of policing for children and young people by acknowledging their differences, recognising their vulnerabilities, and meeting their needs.
We have an emphasis on early intervention to divert away from offending, prevent the unnecessary criminalisation of children and reduce risk of harm.
If you have concerns of a person under 18, displaying risk taking behaviour or escalating behaviour, they may be suitable for early intervention, and you can complete a referral form (see link below) which will be reviewed and acted on where appropriate by Cumbria’s Child Centred Policing Team.
